Sommelier Matthieu Longuere praised for quality of wine list
Popular Chiswick restaurant La Trompette has won the Wine Award at the prestigious AA Hospitality Awards in London. Sommelier Matthieu Longuere , who joined the restaurant in 2002 from Hotel du Vin in Bristol was praised for the restaurant's quality and depth of its wine list. The award also recognises the ability of a restaurant to inspire customers to make wider and more adventurous choices. La Trompette, which is owned by Nigel Platts-Martin and Bruce Poole has a list of 600 bins with particular emphasis on Burgundy and regional France. The big winner at the Awards, which recognised achievement in 23 establishments throughout the UK, was The Latymer restaurant at Pennyhill Park in Surrey which gained 5 AA rosettes. Only seven restaurants in the country have five rosettes. Heston Blumenthal's central London restaurant, ‘Dinner' managed three rosettes. Brothers Chris and Jeff Galvin won the AA Chef's award.
