Local Branch of Jackson + Rye Has Closed |

Troubled parent company had recently shut some branches
The recent fears over the future of Chiswick's branch of Jackson + Rye appear to be realised as the restaurant has closed, in yet another blow to High Road restaurants. The restaurant did not open today and a sign posted yesterday said 'Closed For Staff Meeting'. The outside tables and chairs have also been removed and the Chiswick branch has been removed from the Jackson & Rye website. Some time ago, its parent company announced plans to consider "a range of options" for some of its restaurants. We have made several attempts to contact management for comment but have not received a response. The chain which serves American inspired food, is owned by Cote, which is owned by private equity group BC Partners. Cote also took over the Limeyard brand in 2016. Cote is performing well and not under threat. However, there is continuing deterioration in the 'casual dining' sector across High streets, with closures of restaurants in other chains such as Byron Burgers and Jamie's Italian restaurants. Recent closures in Chiswick include Carluccio's and Pain Quotidien. Jackson + Rye has already closed some of its branches. Earlier this year it closed in Guildford and Kingston and pulled out of opening a restaurant in Birmingham. At that point the company had not announced which branches of Jackson + Rye are under threat so it was unclear what this meant for Chiswick. However, it seems very likely that the Chiswick branch has now joined the list. At present there are three other London branches, in Soho, Bank and Richmond. The brand was set up in 2013 as part of the Richard Caring stable.
