As Hare & Tortoise opens on the High Road
The popular Japanese food restaurant Hare and Tortoise has opened on the former site of Strada. The restaurant opened briefly before Christmas and then closed over the holiday period. It reopened last week and on Friday evening there was a long queue outside waiting to get in. The restaurant serves mainly Japanese food, including sushi and sashimi, as well as noodles, stir-fries, and a variety of health juices and herbal teas. It is named after one of the Aesop fables, in which a hare who ridicules a slow-moving tortoise is challenged to a race, and then loses to the slow-moving but steady competitor. There are branches in Kensington, Ealing, Blackfriers, Putney and central London. January 10, 2015 h
