Will shut at 6 pm on Fathers Day as company closes one third of its restaurants

Carluccio's in Chiswick is to close on Sunday.

The restaurant will be open for business until 6 pm on Father's Day, and will then close for good.

Staff were told a few days ago, and will be given jobs in other branches.

Recently Carluccio announced that it will close 34 of its restaurants, nearly a third of its overall total.

The Italian restaurant chain has been hit by the slump in casual dining that has affected Prezzo, Jamie's Italian and Byron as well as Jackson & Rye.

The company had entered into a Company Voluntary Arrangement which allows it to open discussions with its creditors about deferred payments and with landlords about the terms of existing leases.

The Chiswick branch, which opened in 2006, is understood to have had one of the highest rents of any of the chain's restaurants.
