The assistant manager of a pizza restaurant on Chiswick High Road has spoken of how he is losing business because of shortages.
49-year-old Stefano Massetto told the Daily Mail that customers are leaving Zizzis when they see how many items are missing from the menu.
Supply chain problems mean that many of the options are not available and beverages such as red wine, beer and soft drinks are sometimes not delivered.
He is quoted by the MailOnline as saying, 'I've had some customers leave the table because of the shortages. We've tried to change some dishes with the material we have.’
He added that delivery issues were affecting most local hospitality businesses saying, 'Today we're missing wines and beers, because I don't think they've been delivered. Last we didn't even get Coca Cola.
'We've had days without any red wine at all. Fortunately our core business is not chicken like Nando's.
'The head office is being very helpful sending us information so we can forecast short term. They are trying to distribute the products so everyone gets some.
'I prefer to receive half of what I've ordered than nothing. They seem to be coming in smaller deliveries - twice a week instead of once.
'I think it's a combo between Brexit and the pingdemic. A lot of the drivers are either self-isolating or are not being allowed into the UK.'
Nando’s on Chiswick High Road was one of 50 outlets of the chain that was forced to closed for a few days last week due to supply problems.
Local restaurants have also been required to close or reduce operating hours due to staff being notified that they need to self-isolate by the track and trace app.
