Local wine blogger, known only as 'PK', is an expert at finding reasonably priced but very palatable wines. But he recently visited one of Chiswick's upmarket wine merchants instead of his more habitual supermarket supplier.

"At the posh wine merchants down the road – the ones (like all posh wine merchants) with an ampersand – austerity is clearly taking its toll. Facing the door, and hence visible from the street, a rack has recently appeared, proclaiming a selection of wines for under £10," says PK.
