Republic looking to open this November at former Hedone site
A new Indian restaurant could be opening in Chiswick at the site of the now closed Hedone. A sign has appeared outside the premises at 301-303 Chiswick High Road saying, “Republic, an Indian eatery. Coming soon to spice up your autumn”. A licensing application has been submitted to Hounslow Council with a suggested start date for the licence of 11 November. The application has been made on behalf of a recently formed company called Gastropod Republic Ltd which is registered at an address in Kensal Rise. One of the directors is listed as Mustaq Tappewale. who is currently described on LinkedIn as a general manager at Kricket, a chain of Indian themed restaurants with branches in White City, Soho and Brixton. The site has been empty since the Michelin-starred Hedone closed its doors in June 2019 with chef and owner Mikael Jonsson saying that, after being at the site for eight years, the final phase of operations at the venue had been financially disastrous with the number of covers falling. If you wish to make a comment on the licence application email licensing@hounslow.gov.uk.
