American Bakery's owner warns independent businesses still struggling
Outsider Tart closed after repossession
Outsider Tart, the American Bakery on the corner of Chiswick Lane and Chiswick High Road, is currently closed with a repossession notice from the landlord posted on the front door.
The venue specialised in cakes, pies and tarts and was owned by two Americans, David Lesniak and David Muniz, who established the business 14 years ago.
The notice refers to a lease signed on 24 April 2003 with Westbourne Properties Limited and states that 83 Chiswick High Road 'is no longer relevant as a place, or one of the places, where David Muniz and David Lesniak Trading as Outsider Tart _ (a) usually lives, or (b) carries on a trade or business."

David Lesniak said on the ChiswickW4.com forum, "Our starter home, has fallen victim to the struggles that befell us all these past two years. We send our love and gratitude to everyone that stood by us - with us - for the past 14 years. We ask that you continue to support small local independents. Angie's, Parle Pantry, Tosa and D Grande all weathered the storm and survived during the pandemic. It's not easier yet, nor is the struggle over. So please show them some extra love.
"Here's the good news - we are open for business as usual in Hammersmith at The Lyric Theatre. There our work and takings benefit the theatre and the community it serves. We have some exciting events planned with the theatre in the months ahead. Thanksgiving being one of them. Otherwise all your favourite cakes, birthday cakes and brunch items will be available. Our markets at Kings Cross, Euston and Canopy are also all trading as usual. And who knows what the future may hold. We're looking forward to new challenges ahead."
Mr Lesniak added, "We appreciate the outpouring of support and hope you all follow us as we and our team enter a new adventure."
