Devonshire Arms to open on site of Gordon Ramsay's failed venture
The Devonshire in Chiswick previously run by Gordon Ramsay Holdings is being reopened as the Devonshire Arms in early July by the team behind the Drapers Arms in Islington. The new owners are aiming to run a local community pub with a commitment to providing good food and drink in a relaxed and informal setting with good service. The menu will change daily and aims to deliver affordable, fresh British cooking. Carefully chosen ales will be well looked after and there will be an extensive wine list from a small number of boutique suppliers. Up to 20 wines will be available by the glass and carafe. It will be the second pub set up by Nick Gibson - the first he originally set up in partnership with Ben Maschler. His team will be led in the kitchen by David Philpot, who worked extensively with Caprice Holdings and Sohohouse Group, and in the front of house by Ryan Hayward. Nick told us, "The Devonshire will be first and foremost a pub - you should feel as comfortable sitting with a pint and a paper for the afternoon, including in the sunny garden - as you do sitting down for an informal meal or a celebratory dinner."
