Anger As 'Wrong' Wheelie Bins Delivered To Bedford Park |

Mix up over large and small bins brings furious reaction from residents
The rollout of wheelie bins to Bedford Park residents this Wednesday (25 May) did not go smoothly. Several residents complained that although they had asked Ealing Council for the smaller size bins, the larger ones were delivered. Liberal Democrat councillor for Southfield, Gary Malcolm tweeted; "240L bins for smaller 120L bins getting the bigger bins delivered. People are threatening to dump the bins in the street or take them to the Council offices." Councillor Malcolm, who is against wheelie bins, said: "I have received a number of emails from residents who have made requests to Ealing Council about wheelie bins, but the Council has ignored them or not given them the correct size bins. Some people's front gardens are too small. If anyone has any issues you want to report please email your Southfield Councillors at gary@ealinglibdems.org.uk so that I can raise the concerns with the Council and get problems sorted." Council leader Julian Bell has said that he has asked officers to investigate what has happened. We asked Ealing Council for comment and they said the situation would be resolved by Friday. Some residents complained to Chiswickw4.com that their emails to the listed email address were being bounced back. An email was sent by the Bedford Park Community Group (BPCG) to members saying; "We were sorry to hear that you have had the incorrect wheelie bins delivered by the council contractors in spite of your request for the 120L rubbish bin and/or to cancel the 240L recycling bin, or both 240L bins. The bins are being introduced despite a long campaign of local opposition and are being delivered on a street by street basis. May 25, 2016
