Turnham Green Litter Picks to Focus on Wildlife Awareness |
|
Aim will be to improve the habitation of hedgehogs, swifts and other species
July 22, 2023 There is to be a change in emphasis for the regular litter picks on Turnham Green over the summer. Following advice being received from Wild Chiswick the picks will aim improve the habitation of hedgehogs, swifts, and other urban wildlife species that are made vulnerable due to litter. So as well as making the public space look clean and tidy, the hope is that the monthly event will improve biodiversity in the area. The next litter pick will take place this Sunday 23 July. Meet time is 2.30pm outside Christ Church, Turnham Green (W4 5DT). It will end at 3:30pm followed by tea and cake inside the church. First time volunteers are welcome, especially families with young children and grandchildren. Bring your own gardening/protective gloves if possible. Litter pickers and bags will be provided. The Turnham Green Litter Picks take place on the fourth Sunday of each month (excluding December) and the remaining dates this year are: 23 July, 27 August, 24 September, 22 October, 26 November.
