Local groups organise litterpicks across the area
There will be clean ups on Turnham Green and in Grove Park
March 24, 2023
The Great British Spring Clean Campaign (GBSC) is underway and groups across Chiswick are doing their but.
The nation’s biggest mass-action environmental campaign which is organised by Keep Britain Tidy runs until 2 April.
This Sunday (26 March) the usual monthly Turnham Green Litter Pick is taking place. If you want to help out meet at 2.30pm outside Christ Church Turnham Green, for about an hour of litter picking on the Green and the surrounding residential streets, then back to church by 3.30pm for tea and cake, and time to chat.
Remember to bring your own gardening/protective gloves if possible.
Jill Spencer (Local Environmental Champion) said, “I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on Sunday - last month was yet another a record turnout, let’s see if we can do even better this time as part of the GBSC!”
Litter picks on Turnham Green take place on the fourth Sunday of every month except December. The remaining days this year are 26 March, 23 April, 28 May, 25 June, 23 July, 27 August, 24 September, 22 October, 26 November.
Earlier in the day the Grove Park Group is having a litter picking morning. It welcomes any volunteers to meet at the Chiswick Station forecourt opposite the Co-op at 10am for one hour of cleaning up in the area.
Bring your own gloves; litter pickers and bags will be provided, and when the pick is finished you are welcome to meet at the Grove Cafe for a free cup of coffee or tea.
Everyone is welcome to come and help out on the day
Other community clean ups have been organised across Chiswick. If you are interested in taking part in one in your neighbourhood contact Cllr Mushiso on Ron.Mushiso@hounslow.gov.uk or call 07976 702887 to find out further information.

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.
Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.
We've always done that and won't be changing, in fact we'd like to do more.
However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them. Our financial resources are limited and the local media environment is intensely competitive so there is a constraint on what we can do.
We are therefore asking our readers to consider offering financial support to these efforts. Any money given will help support community and public interest news and the expansion of our coverage in this area.
A suggested monthly payment is £8 but we would be grateful for any amount for instance if you think this site offers the equivalent value of a subscription to a daily printed newspaper you may wish to consider £20 per month. If neither of these amounts is suitable for you then contact info@neighbournet.com and we can set up an alternative. All payments are made through a secure web site.
One-off donations are also appreciated. Choose The Amount You Wish To Contribute.
If you do support us in this way we'd be interested to hear what kind of articles you would like to see more of on the site – send your suggestions to the editor.
For businesses we offer the chance to be a corporate sponsor of community content on the site. For £30 plus VAT per month you will be the designated sponsor of at least one article a month with your logo appearing if supplied. If there is a specific community group or initiative you'd like to support we can make sure your sponsorship is featured on related content for a one off payment of £50 plus VAT. All payments are made through a secure web site.
