Join the group outside Christ Church on Turnham Green

There is another chance to help make Chiswick even better this Sunday (22 August) by joining a group of litter pickers on Turnham Green.
They will be getting together this weekend by Christ Church from 2.30pm to 3.30pm.
The group will do a good sweep of the green and adjoining streets for an hour. Cake will be provided by Jill Spencer the Environmental Champion for Turnham Green.
The initiative now accounts for hundreds of local volunteers who have turned out regularly on the 4th Sunday to contribute an hour of their time.

At this same time other groups of activists carrying out their own litter picks across Chiswick. But the main base has remained at Turnham Green.
Individual wishing to start their own litter picks in their local area are encouraged to do so. They simply have to get in touch with any of the Chiswick councillors to organise bin bags to be delivered to a location by Hounslow Highways. Further instruction for reporting fly tipping, disposing of litter and handling hazardous materials can be passed on.
Cllr Ron Mushiso commented on the successes of the of the initiative so far, “Cleanliness attracts cleanliness and that’s the message that we should all pass on to our families, friends, and neighbours. Every action such as putting our rubbish in the bin, picking litter or taking our litter home; has an impact not only on the environment but also helps prevent other forms of antisocial behaviour. Our volunteers, therefore are a big piece of the jigsaw when it comes to establishing safer neighbourhoods.”

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.
Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.
We’ve always done that and won’t be changing, in fact we’d like to do more.
However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them. Our financial resources are limited and the local media environment is intensely competitive so there is a constraint on what we can do.

If neither of these amounts is suitable for you then contact info@neighbournet.com and we can set up an alternative. All payments are made through a secure web site.
One-off donations are also appreciated. Choose The Amount You Wish To Contribute.
If you do support us in this way we’d be interested to hear what kind of articles you would like to see more of on the site – send your suggestions to the editor.
For businesses we offer the chance to be a corporate sponsor of community content on the site. For £30 plus VAT per month you will be the designated sponsor of at least one article a month with your logo appearing if supplied. If there is a specific community group or initiative you’d like to support we can make sure your sponsorship is featured on related content for a one off payment of £50 plus VAT.
