Last week Chiswick resident Stephanie Sanders reached Mount Everest Base Camp in aid of the charity Ovarian Cancer Action.

Stephanie said; "The mountain scenes were absolutely stunning but the trek was made more challenging than expected as unusually for the time of year, it snowed throughout the trip making the cold and high altitude a dangerous combination."

Four people in the group were helicoptered off the mountain due to the cold, high altitude, as well as a dangerous dog bite! Despite this, everyone made it back in the UK in one piece brimming with great stories and stunning photos.

Stephanie would like to say a big thank you to Martin Jennings at the Hogarth Health Club in Chiswick whose training programme got her over the line.

She would also like to thank all her charity supporters and she has raised £5,365 for Ovarian Cancer Action.

Stephanie was doing the trek in memory of her late mother Maryanne Sanders and to raise money for this very worthwhile charity.

She did not have any experience of mountain trekking at that altitude so it was a huge challenge which involved six months of training.

Ovarian Cancer Action is a UK charity dedicated to beating the sixth most common cancer in women. The charity wants to empower women, to give them a voice, and to create a better future for the thousands of mothers, partners, sisters, daughters and friends affected by this disease.
