The Travelodge budget hotel chain is planning to open a six-storey 113 bedroom hotel on a site close Chiswick Roundabout.

A planning application has been submitted to Hounslow Council for the site adjacent to 632 Chiswick High Road between the Embassy of Saudi Arabia Cultural Bureau and a car showroom. It is bordered to the west by the North Circular Road.

The hotel would be developed by the prospective land owners, Forest Hill Properties Ltd, and operated by the international hotel chain Travelodge.

A hotel is also part of the proposed development at the other side of Chiswick Roundabout on the B&Q site.

A consultant's report presented to Council planners states that the area surrounding the application site is home to some of the largest commercial businesses, renowned national and international headquarters as well as a huge number of small and medium enterprises.

"Despite this level of established businesses and enterprises, the area has very
little visitor accommodation, and specifically, budget branded visitor accommodation."

The development of the Great West Road (The Golden Mile) is currently being championed by HounslowCouncil to become a major employment hub by 2034, as a place for “enterprise and innovation, catering for larger companies, small and medium sized enterprises and micro-businesses, as well as the large freelance workforce”

The Hounslow Local Plan 2015-2030 estimates that between 2007 and 2026, there will be a requirement for 2,000 net additional hotel rooms in the borough.

The nearest hotels are the Novotel on the A4 and the Clayton Hotel on Chiswick High Road. There is a Travelodge close to Brentford, near Kew Bridge, with 111 rooms.

Founded in 1985, Travelodge is one of the UK’s leading hotel brands. There were 586 Travelodge
hotels and 44,684 rooms in the UK, Spain and Ireland as of 30 September 2019. Travelodge caters for approximately 19 million customers every year.

Chiswick is considered one of the highest priority target areas in Greater London for
Travelodge , which it describes as a major gateway to central London, with over 2350 companies located nearby and good transport links.

The hotel would include the Travelodge ‘Super Room’ format, which caters especially to business and corporate travel requirements. The hotel will also have a bar café, meeting room space, air conditioning, and 1 disabled car parking space.

The project is being led by the prospective land owners, Forest Hill Properties Ltd. Travelodge has agreed terms subject to planning permission being granted to take a long lease, with an option to renew subsequently.

The proposal at the Chiswick roundabout is the fifth venture with Travelodge undertaken by Forest Hill Properties Ltd.
