Sophie Dyson is through to next round of national contest
Twelve-year old Chiswick singer Sophie Dyson is now just one step away from performing at The O2 in London after impressing the TeenStar judges again. The Year Seven Latymer Upper student has made it through to the Regional Finals of the TeenStar national talent contest. Sophie, who lives with her family in Barrowgate Road, received excellent feedback from the judges at the regional final in Hayes when she sang her own version of the Maroon 5 song She Will Be Loved. The judges commented; " A very mature performance to a well-chosen song- very impressive." Sophie is also a keen cricketer and plays for Middlesex. She has been taking singing lessons and also plays the piano. She is a previous winner of the Talent Contest at the Bedford Park Festival, and has a number of songs on YouTube. The Area Final will take place at The Beck Theatre in Hayes, Middlesex on the 18th May 2013. More than 9.000 young performers entered TeenStar in its first year. . Sophie said “I am so excited to perform at the Area Finals and I am now in the process of choosing my song – I may sing one of the songs that I have written.” TeenStar is a national talent competition which searches for the UK’s best teens and pre-teens singers, singer/songwriters, rappers and vocalists of all genres who perform either covers or original material. Previous winners include Birdy, who has collaborated with Mumford & Sons and Hatty Keane who has performed alongside Ed Sheeran and Tinchy Stryder. Thousands of younsters entered the nationwide competition. The TeenStar competition is divided into age categories; 'Late Teens' (16-19), 'Mid Teens' (13-15) and a special category searching for the stars of tomorrow; the Pre-Teens! The latter stages of the competition will also provide acts with the opportunity to impress many guests from record labels, agencies and the entertainment industry.
