Tabard Pub Plans A Makeover |
||||
Refurbishment scheme appears to leave the theatre untouched
The Tabard pub is planning a refurbishment both internally and externally. Unlike a previous scheme which would have led to the closure of the attached theatre, the current scheme appears to involve relatively minor alterations to the interior and exterior of the listed building. A planning application has been lodged with Hounslow Council and changes include new bar counter and display area, polishing the wooden floor and tiling, and redecorating the external facade. The works are unlikely to affect business at the popular pub. The Tabard was built in 1880 as part of Jonathan Carr's Bedford Park and achieved Grade II listed status in 1951. Council planners have assess the application and it is likely to be granted. They commented, "These works will not affect the character of the existing building and have no detrimental impact on the heritage of the building or the surrounding conservation area."
