A sports injury and rehabilitation clinic in Devonshire Road attracted dozens of supporters to plead its case for expanding to an upstairs flat.

The owners of Sport Dimensions Physio ( recently integrated with Optimal Spine) at 1B Devonshire Road applied for retrospective planning permission to expand upstairs into the second floor of the building into a vacated flat at 1C Devonshire Road, but their initial application was turned down.

Councillors at the Chiswick Area Forum heard from a number of clients who said they had received wonderful treatment at the clinic and worried that it might have to close or relocate if it did not receive permission to expand upstairs to the second floor.

One man said he suffered from Parkinson's Disease and treatment had enabled him to have a better quality of life. Another told of how a debilitating sports injury had been improved by treatment at the centre.

Councillors said that the issue was a planning one despite the large number of supporters who turned up to praise the clinic. The agent for the owners said that the initial planning application had been turned down.

The clinic had expanded and extra services were now being provided on the second floor as the flat became vacant. They had not appealed the initial decision but wanted to apply for planning from residential to commercial use retrospectively.

Councillors decided that the matter should be referred to a full hearing of Hounslow Council Planning Committee.
