The annual event is a community highlight
Southfield Primary School’s annual Sunflower Fete has become a community highlight during the summer months. The Fete will take place on Saturday 14th June at
• Turnham Green, Chiswick
• 11am to 4pm
Held on Turnham Green, within easy access of Chiswick High Road, this year’s fete is sponsored by Orchards of London Estate Agents. Packed with games, entertainment and delicious food stalls, it promises to be great fun for all the family!
This year the theme for the children’s fancy dress parade which is always a highlight of the fete is ‘Masquerade’ and there will be a prize for the best mask and outfit judged by a special guest.
Fete Attractions will include: a climbing wall and bouncy castle. Little ones will enjoy the carousel, face painting and some new and traditional children’s games or try their hand at creating something special in the craft corner – perhaps a gift for Fathers’ Day! Older children will love the climbing wall, football tournament, beat the goalie and old favourites such as the coconut shy – there’s something to amuse all ages.
To bag a bargain, pay a visit to a variety of stalls selling everything from second hand books to plants, toys and bric-a-brac and don't miss out on the opportunity to participate in the Tombola to win some fantastic prizes.
With a great selection of food and snacks on offer with tea and light refreshments, you can indulge your taste buds at the Sunflower Cafe, the barbeque, the Pimms Tent or try a selection of an eclectic mix of food from around the world from the International Food Stall while you enjoy the music from the jazz quartet.
Mr Simon Prebble, Head teacher at Southfield Primary School says, “The Sunflower Fete is a much anticipated date on the school calendar. It’s a day when the whole school as well as the wider community can join together to help raise money for various school projects. First and foremost it is a lot of fun, it’s a great family day out and there is something for everyone.”
The Sunflower fete is organised by The SPSA (Southfield Parent Staff Association - registered charity 1015206) which works hard to raise funds for projects and much needed resources that enhance the children’s experience at school.
Some of the projects that have been funded in the past include: Equipment for the ICT suite, Sports and Music equipment, The Sensory Garden, Infrastructure refurbishments, Reading Books, Art Projects, Theatre visits, and many more.
With the support of local businesses who have continued to contribute to the event through sponsorship and generous donations, last year’s summer fundraising activities raised £11,000 for music activities, art projects and tablets and laptops. It is hoped that this year’s activities may raise funds in excess of last year’s, for some major playground equipment for Key Stage 1.
