Fifth Boy For Sophie Ellis-Bextor

Singer and her husband welcome 'absolutely gorgeous' baby Mickey

Singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor has had a baby boy, her fifth son.

The Chiswick-based singer posted a picture on Instagram of the new baby being cradled by her husband, musician Richard. The 7 lb 1 oz infant was born this Monday, (7 January).

She described her fifth child, as their 'absolutely gorgeous' new addition.

"He’s here! Mickey Jones born today weighing 7lb 1oz and he’s absolutely gorgeous. Welcome to our quirky little family, sweet boy. We’re so glad you’re here safe.'"

Sophie had announced her pregnancy last August while being interviewed on BBC Radio 2 to promote her latest album.

Sophie already has four sons with her husband, bass player Richard Jones, two of whom were born prematurely.

She has previously said that having children has helped her career, rather than hindered it. She believes it makes her a better performer, and a happier person.

Sophie appeared on the Channel 4 programme Sunday Brunch Live just 24 hours before giving birth.

She has been the face of cosmetics brand Rimmel, as well as a busy mum, juggling the demands of her family, recording career, and touring in places ranging from Russia to Indonesia. She was also a leading contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.

She is the daughter of well-known former TV presenter, and author, Janet Ellis.
