Sgt Dave Turtle and his colleagues helped people with mental health issues
Sgt Dave Turtle is Beat Manager for the Turnham Green policing ward and has written this blog
Started early shift today on foot patrol in Chiswick High Road after briefing colleagues about local crime trends. Noticed a slight rise in shed burglaries. Please make sure you use an effective padlock and good hasp along with a shed alarm. Many people appear to be storing high value pedal cycles in sheds with minimum security .If you have a bicycle you should register your frame number at the bikeregister.com website. Bike Register is the free to use Metropolitan Police approved registration service.
My team also were called to an adult female who was violently kicking tables outside Pizza Express in Chiswick High Road and screaming. It took myself and three colleagues to restrain her and prevent her from causing herself serious injury. Our thanks certainly went to our overstretched London Ambulance Service colleagues who assisted in transporting her to Lakeside Mental Health Centre.
Mental health issues sprang again to the fore this week when our Chiswick colleagues helped to find an adult man believed to be about to commit suicide near Gunnersbury station. Again the man received care from Lakeside. 40 % of all calls to the MPS involve some form of welfare visit which include mental health issues.
Chiswick sector officers will be on patrol this coming Bank Holiday to ensure your safety and reassurance. Please keep safe.
