Classes for beginners have resumed at St. Michael and All Angels
The Chiswick Scottish Country Dance Club (CSCDC) are again running classes for both beginners and more regular dancers. Members are the first to admit that they are not in the professional league, but “concentrate more on having an entertaining evening in a convivial atmosphere, improving their dancing, learning new dances, but always returning to old favourites” The CSCDC re-started their Beginners’ classes at the end of last month in the hall of St. Michael & All Angels Church, W4 1TX (entrance opposite the green) and continue every Sunday starting at 7.00 pm. Newcomers and improvers will be learning the basic steps and patterns of the dances during the first hour. They will then be joined by the regular dancers and put into practice what they have learned by all doing several simple dances together before breaking for refreshments. After that, the regulars continue alone with more challenging dances to finish off the evening. “The whole point of taking part is to enjoy oneself. It is a form of dancing that is wonderful exercise – much more fun than the gym - and is a great social activity for both young and old. For those who want to graduate to the more technically challenging aspects of Scottish Dancing, these classes are an ideal stepping stone, but most just come to enjoy themselves. At only £5 per evening it is great value for money.” You can pay per term or pay on a weekly basis. As a member you get disounts.
