Scooting To School Instead Of Going By Car |

Strand on the Green Infants learn a new skill
A local infant school is teaching children about another way to come to school without having to travel by car. The pupils at Strand on the Green Infants have been practising their ' scooting skills'. Strand has just held its tenth Scoot to School Day when children bring their scooter to school and prove their skills and safety to earn a proficiency certificate. The idea is to promote sustainable transport and encourage families not to use the car for the school run. They also teach children about safety and respecting pedestrians and pavement users. This year, the school also had specialist scooter and skateboard trainers come in to teach some ‘advanced’ skills to Year 2 and promote the importance of practise and perseverance.
