The popular George IV pub on Chiswick High Road is to close for a refurbishment later this month.

The Fuller's flagship pub will close its doors on July 28th and is expected to be closed for about three months.

An online petition was proposed on Twitter today at #savetheGeorgeIVteam as a local called for people to support the jobs of "one of the best and longest serving pub teams in Chiswick".

A Fuller's spokesperson said: "The pub will be closed for several weeks and in light of this we will be trying to find jobs for the staff in other Fuller's pubs as we usually do in these cases."

The spokesperson said that after the refurbishment the George IV would remain a pub holding true to the Fuller's values of great beer, wines, pub food and excellent service.

The George IV is a popular centre for a number of events in Chiswick, ranging from Headliners comedy nights and live music, to the fundraising 'Stand Up For Labour' nights.
