Enterprising barista sets up business beside iconic British symbol
With everyone owning personal handsets the once beloved British red telephone box is now generally abandoned and forlorn. But one in Chiswick has a new purpose - serving as a stop for the nation's favourite hot drink. On the corner of Town Hall Avenue on the Chiswick High Road corner the disused iconic red telephone box has opened as a coffee corner! Aptly named Red Coffee Box. Coffee Box barista Zac serves up great coffee, and competitively priced too! One local commented: "One of the best espressos I have had in weeks. " Despite the proliferation of coffee shops and coffee chains in Chiswick, the 'pop up' kiosks at Chiswick Rail station and opposite Turnham Green tube are popular- they serve coffee at rapid speed, due to the majority of their customers being commuters rushing to catch a train. A local commented:
"There are times when visiting well known high street coffee shops
you get all sorts of responses - grumpy, moody, indifferent, or even worse
the stock company line! Here there is no counter to hide behind so you
get a more personal and engaging response. Refreshing. " |
