Chiswick Cinema Unearths Historic 'Graffiti' |
'If I can't dance to it, it's not my Revolution'
The Chiswick Cinema has uncovered an intriguing piece of graffiti during its renovation works. Construction work has begun on the 5 screen independent cinema with Conamar the new contractor recently following the departure of the group of squatters. This piece of artwork was uncovered on the wall of where a screen should be. The cinema is now deciding how best to preserve it. The cinema commented on its Facebook page; "Our builders uncovered this lovely it of graffiti on a section that will be part of a brand new cinema screen. Almost too good to say goodbye to!" There are no clues as to the origin of the artwork. In addition to the 5 screens there will be an exclusive Members’ bar
with a private dining and party room. Detail and quality will be integral
to the aesthetic of the cinema which will be an inviting place to meet
friends, see films and enjoy arts and events from around the world. Programming
will include a mixture of current releases, family screenings and a broad
range of event cinema including theatre, visual arts, music events, opera,
musical theatre and dance.
