The Chiswick Cinema has announced that construction work has begun on
the 5 screen independent cinema with Conamar the new contractor.
The last of the squatters who had occupied the premises at the former
Ballet Rambert , left during last week, and new security locks were placed
on the building by the owners.
Neil Dower, Managing Director of Conamar, stated “We are delighted to
be involved in this exciting new project to build on our extensive ‘cut
and carve’ portfolio in London. We look forward to working with the local
community.”
In addition to the 5 screens there will be an exclusive Members’ bar with
a private dining and party room. Detail and quality will be integral to
the aesthetic of the cinema which will be an inviting place to meet friends,
see films and enjoy arts and events from around the world. Programming
will include a mixture of current releases, family screenings and a broad
range of event cinema including theatre, visual arts, music events, opera,
musical theatre and dance.
Feedback from the community has been extremely positive with residents
excited for a local cinema and to see the space on the high street being
used again.
The opportunity will be available to be involved with the cinema from
the very beginning via a limited number of Founder Memberships. Details
of the Founder Memberships will be posted on the website, e-newsletter
and social media and those who have already expressed interest by email
will be contacted.
Lyn Goleby commented “I am so looking forward to finally moving this project
to a successful launch. It has been a long wait for Chiswick residents
and the support that we have had from local people has been astonishing
and consistent.”
Progress of the construction will be posted on The Chiswick Cinema’s social
media pages.
