Rainbow Trust supports families who have a child aged 0-18 years with a life threatening or terminal illness and need the bespoke support we offer. Today there are an estimated 49,000 children and young people in the UK living with a life limiting or life threatening condition who may require palliative care (University of Leeds, 2011). Many of these children and their families are able to cope or are not in a ‘crisis situation'. However, thousands of families have to face the very real possibility that their child may die and struggle to cope on a day to day basis. Rainbow Trust support these families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness and are in the greatest need. Family Support Workers provide a life line to these families and children, bringing help to families who so desperately need it at home, in hospital and in the community. Any family can receive support from the moment of their child or young person's diagnosis. "Despite a huge fear of heights, in October Louisa and Emily will be swapping our usual parachute for a different kind and jumping from a plane at over 10,000 feet, reaching speeds of up to 120mph! "It might sound like madness but we wanted to do something big that represented a huge personal challenge to contribute to all the life-changing work that Rainbow Trust does. Having worked with young children and families for so many years we know how devastating it can be when a child becomes ill and a family has to face a lift-threatening or terminal diagnosis. "Rainbow Trust offers family, sibling, home, hospital and bereavement support in many different forms. Please visit their website to read personal stories from families. "THANK YOU so much for your donations. It means the world to us. "Emily & Louisa xx " October 22, 2017
