Chiswick Teenager Competes in World Powerlifting Championships

Ian Lucy lifts his personal best at Calgary event

Chiswick resident, 18 year old Ian Lucy was invited to compete in the World Powerlifting Championships as part of the GB team.

He travelled to Calgary in Canada this month where he lifted his personal best in all three lifts; squat - 207.5kg, bench – 120kg and deadlift – 240kg.

Ian came away with 4 silver medals, one for each of his lifts and one for overall performance.

This was a total of 567.5 kg which puts 60kg on his total since the British Competition in Motherwell last November, which lead him to the World Powerlifting Championships.
