Energy company SSE ( formerly Scottish & Southern Energy) has apologised to residents in Chiswick who suffered a power cut yesterday (Jan 7th).

Most of those affected were in the Grove Park area and the unexpected power disruption happened around 10am.

SSE said that it was caused by a fault that developed on a transformer. It was not part of planned maintenance work which was why people were not notified in advance.

A spokesperson for SSE told chiswickw4.com that the power cut was very short with the vast majority of customers being restored in a matter of minutes, with the maximum being 15-20 minutes.

"All customers have had their power restored by re-routing supplies, and we will be sending engineers to replace the transformer in question. I’d like to apologise to anybody who was affected for the inconvenience."
