Volunteers from the Oxjam Chiswick team will be raising money for Oxfam by living on just £1 a day each. The challenge starts at midnight on September 14 and continues for five days. Their goal is to raise £2,000 to help Oxfam to work with others to overcome poverty and suffering.

Next month, from October 19th, the annual Oxjam month of music will be held at venues around W4 as well as throughout the UK. Tthousands of fundraising music events are put on by ordinary people - from large-scale festivals to local sponsored busks - making it the biggest line up of any music festival in the UK.

Spokesman Julian Chattin said: “Everything we do is self-funded, that is we spend our spare time doing fundraising activities like car boot sales, pub quiz nights, silent auctions etc.  All the promotion of the Oxjam event is funded by the money we raise, that way all ticket sales go straight to helping Oxfam.

"Living Below the Line is one of our biggest cash generators, and at the same time we get to know how it feels to be constantly hungry as we live on £1 a day for a week.  That means £5 for 5 days... no using anything we already have.  That's tough I think! The difference is we have a choice to go hungry where 1.2 billion people don’t.”

If you would like to help the team reach their £2,000 target please make a donation at www.justgiving.com/teams/Oxjamchiswick, or to keep up to date on the event find the on Facebook under Oxjam Chiswick or follow Oxjam Chiswick on Twitter.
