A local community activist has urged Chiswick to sign up to a new concept to protect London's green spaces.

Marie Rabouhans, chair of the West Chiswick and Gunnersbury Society, who has a keen interest in the environment, says that local wards are invited to sign up to the new concept and she believed Chiswick could be part of the scheme.

Ealing Council has already given its support to the plan, which uses crowdfunding to support the campaign to make London the world's first national park city. Kingston Council, Sutton Council and the London Assembly also support the project.

The Greater London National Park City organisers aim to make 51% of the city physically green, improve air and water quality, connect children to nature and promote a map of the National Park City showing hundreds of miles of shared open spaces, walking trails, rivers, canals, woodland etc.

Marie Rabouhans has also written an account of a day she spent at a climate change conference, attended by the local MP Ruth Cadbury.
