My Plumber up for two Hounslow Business Awards
Chiswick business, My Plumber, has been shortlisted for the finals of not one, but two of the Hounslow Business Awards 2013: Best for Customer Service; and Best for Apprenticeship and Employment for Young People. The founder of My Plumber, who also owns Soak Bathrooms, Angela Lyons-Redman stated, “I am very excited that we have been recognised in the finals for these awards.” Angie stated, “We are thrilled to be a finalist for our Customer Services as it is Customer Service which is at the very heart of the company and is the core ngredient in our success.” Commenting on the nomination for Best Business for Apprenticeships and Employment for Young People Award Angie, who is Managing Director, said she feels strongly that the youth market of today needs supporting and believes in high quality training in the workplace - she has been employing apprentices for the last four years. My Plumber’s current apprentice gas installer Arlind Hasaj, joined the company in 2012 and attends Ealing, Hammersmith and West London College on day release. This apprenticeship will last 4 years in all and will ensure that when Arlind starts to work on projects, he will really know what he is doing. They have just employed another apprentice who works in the office, from Uxbridge College. Angie, who founded the company in 2005, with two phones and a desk in her bedroom, thought up the idea when, as a commercial solicitor, she experienced difficulty in finding a plumber. “At the time, it was impossible to find a good engineer to do small jobs so I turned this to my advantage and started up a plumbing company which used plumbers on motorcycles (hence the logo). After having children, I decided to go it alone and launch the idea.” My Plumber now provides a large range of other services for both the commercial and the residential market: electrical, painting, handyman services and roofing to name but a few. My Plumber’s dedicated energetic staff raises money for charities and local schools. In 2005 they won the London round of Britain’s Favourite Plumber which was organised by the Chartered Institute of Plumbing. The Hounslow Business Awards 2013 (sponsored by Barclays) will be announced at a Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony on 10 th October 2013 at the Holiday Inn at Brentford Lock.
