Trevor Begg repaying support given to his sister-in-law
A man whose sister-in-law has benefitted from support from a Chiswick charity is taking on the Thames Path 50K Challenge to help it raise funds. Trever Begg trained hard to prepared for the challenge which is taking place this Sunday (11 September). He is dedicating his efforts to his sister-in-law Caroline Willis, who is a devoted attendee of the Chiswick-based charity Move into Wellbeing (MiW) classes. Caroline not only finds joy in the Dance & Movement classes but emphasises the importance of the social aspect of the group. Trevor said, “As a small charity and looking for a way to thank them for helping Caroline and her friends I decided to raise funds by taking on the Thames Path 50k Ultra Challenge on September the 11th. “There will be updates and live streaming on the day and the page will be open until the 10th of October if you would like to donate after I have completed the event. “Small charities can struggle to raise funds when competing with national organisations yet provide priceless help and support to many.” Caroline Willis added "Our Move into Wellbeing dance classes support not only our physical but also our emotional needs. It's like a family where we have made solid friendships and support one another. Thank you for supporting this fundraising initiative;it really makes a difference to the quality of life of so many people living with Parkinson's in a really tangible way." This local charity was founded in 2014 by long term resident Donna Schoenherr. It was originally inspired and conceived by the plight of her father’s struggle for over three decades with Parkinson’s. She is a former professional dancer and is a choreographer and founder also of 18-year-old local dance institution Ballet4Life Donna said, “We were so pleasantly surprised when Caroline shared the news that her brother-in-law Trevor would be walking to raise funds for us! Times are tough and it is not as easy for a small charity to win grants and funding as it was pre- COVID-19 days. We now support around 100 people each week at the nine classes we offer at various locations, venues, and sheltered accommodation schemes. We are always on the look out for ways to raise funds that are manageable for our small team and Board of Trustees.” MiW has been recognised and awarded by amongst others The Atul Pathak Foundation, One Dance UK, Hounslow Business Award. It was not defeated by COVID-19 and brought their entire programme online and created a 24/7 accessible classroom for its members. It now receives new visitors from referrals by GP’s, consultants, and health care organisations. To learn more about Trevor’s campaign and to donate any amount by 10 October visit this link.
