Graham Green has an unusual request for Chiswick locals. He is trying to trace his wife's ancestors, the Sandys.

Graham has sent a picture of a shop called the Mikado, at 152, Chiswick High Road, with the name Sandy both above the shop and at the bottom. The family were associated with the shop which sold chocolate, teas and sweets.

Says Graham: " I would like to find out more. Can you suggest anyone or any archive source which might be able to provide more information?

"The main reason for the enquiry is to see if there is any documentation connecting the Sandy name with the shop. Was it owned by the great grandfather, George William Sandy -his wife and 3 of his children are in the picture? His occupation on the census was a tailor. We are also intrigued as to why it was called the Mikado".

As far as Graham knows none of the family still lives in Chiswick, but many are in the London area. He and his wife live in the West Midlands.
