Wreath placed at Staveley Road by local history society
The Brentford & Chiswick Local History Society has marked the anniversary of the death of three local people when the first V2 fell on Staveley Road on September 8 1944. They have reinstated the information panel which had come away from its fixings and placed a fine wreath of autumn flowers from Pot Pourri beside the memorial.
The V2 landed in the centre of Staveley Road, 73 years
ago, towards the junction with Burlington Lane. A memorial was placed
close to this spot, where there is a small electricity sub-station. Three
people died and 22 were injured, 11 houses were demolished and 27 more
were seriously damaged in the immediate area when the attack took place,
