Plan to combine site with Gelato Mio to create new restaurant
Giraffe is to close its restaurant on Chiswick High Road. Staff have been told that they will be relocated to other branches when the chain closes its Chiswick branch in the near future. There are ten jobs involved. Giraffe opened in Chiswick at 270 Chiswick High Road in 2006 and the chain was recently bought by Tesco. Plans have been submitted for the the premises may to become part of a larger restaurant as an premises licence application has been lodged with Hounslow Council for 270-272 Chiswick High Road. Gelato Mio, the ice-cream shop next door to Giraffe (at 272 Chiswick High Road), could be incorporated into a new restaurant. The ice-cream shop was closed for several months and re-opened recently. The application, in the name of Bonne Bouche Catering Ltd, Perivale, Middlesex is for the premises at 270-272 to trade as a restaurant to be opened from 0800- 2300 hours, with a first-floor consisting of 667 square feet. A detailed planning statement submitted by Savills says that it is planned to open a Bill's Restaurant. Bill’s is a chain with outlets in Bath, Chichester, Exeter, London, Cambridge, Brighton and Reading. The statement says it 'offers fine food in a casual dining atmosphere with a focus on an eclectic hand-crafted menu, which also include areas for retail sales as part of their operation'. A planning application has also been lodged with Hounslow Council for the erection of a single storey rear extension and change of use of the basement and ground floors from A1 ( retail) to A3 ( restaurant/cafe) at 270-272 Chiswick High Road. We were unable to contact the director of Bonne Bouche for comment or the owner of Gelato Mio.
