Hundreds of local residents of all ages turned out last Saturday to celebrate the Royal Wedding at a garden party in the grounds of St Paul's Church, Grove Park.

The sun shone brightly as crowds gathered on the lawns with picnics and Pimms, to watch the celebrations on a big screen, which was used later to show the football final.

There was lots of home-cooked food, jewellery stalls, icecream and drinks, to keep hunger pangs at bay for those who hadn't brought their own supplies.

Local MP Ruth Cadbury mingled with the community, as did the three recently elected councillors for Riverside, Sam Hearn, Gabriella Giles, and Michael Denniss.

The Mayor of Hounslow, Cllr Sue Sampson (pictured above) was also there, in one of her final outings as Mayor where she judged the Best Crown competition.

In Buskers Corner featured youngsters encouraged to perform their favourite renditions.

The Chiswick Rock Choir was warmly applauded for a lively set of songs. Compere for the afternoon was Maria Kempinska.

The event was jointly hosted by St Paul’s Church and the Grove Park Group. Other organisations donated silent auction pledges and raffle prizes, or cakes with proceeds to charity.
