The intriguing possibility has been raised that a TV chef might be behind plans to open a funeral parlour in Chiswick.

The former premises of estate agent Felicity J Lord are currently being refitted and contractors on the site are telling people that an undertakers is to open on the site at 227 Chiswick High Road.

A planning application has been submitted to Hounslow Council for illuminated advertising displays at that address. The application form does not give the name of the applicant but has been submitted by design company Transit Studios.

Drawings submitted with the application show that the signs above the premises indicate that the new business is to be called Exit Here but no indication is given as to the nature of the business.

However, in February of this year a company called Exit Here was registered at Companies House. The nature of its business is given as ‘funeral and related activities’ and its sole director is Oliver Peyton the restaurateur and judge on Channel Five TV show, The Great British Menu.

Oliver Peyton is originally from Sligo and opened several restaurants in London, including Isola in Knightsbridge, the Peyton & Byrne chain of bakeries, and the Admiralty restaurant at Somerset House amongst others. In 2018. he joined his sister in law Alex Polizzi in a new series, Peyton and Polizzi's Restaurant Rescue on Channel Five.

We have attempted to contact Mr Peyton for comment.

We contacted a local funeral directors but they had not heard of a company called Exit Here.
