Bedroom shop latest victim of increased high street costs and fall in spending
Feather & Black, the speciality beds and bedroom furniture store is to close its Chiswick branch next month. The shop, which opened six years ago in the former Adamou grocers, will shut its doors in mid February. It is currently selling off its stock.
The chain, which has a clearance outlet in Hammersmith, sells beds and bedroom furniture, cabinets and bathroom accessories, bed linen and duvets. It has both adults and childrens’ ranges. Originally known as the Iron Bed Company, it changed its name in 2004. Its head office is in Chichester. A spokesperson for the chain told chiswickw4.com: Last year, Feather and Black, like many other companies in the retail sector, were significantly affected by a number of factors which were out of our control – including increases in rent and rates and cautious consumer spending. We have therefore taken the difficult decision to close a small number of stores, which includes Chiswick. "We would like to however reassure customers that Feather & Black continues to trade across our network of remaining nationwide stores, as well as online at featherandblack.com. The closest Feather & Black store for customers in the Chiswick area will soon be East Sheen or Fulham."
