Lights will shine once again with help of local businesses
The Christmas lights will shine once again in Chiswick this year, with help from local businesses. The big switch on ceremony will take place at 6.00pm on Thursday 26th outside the George IV on Chiswick High Road with Christmas carols sung by the choir of St Mary's School. The lights come on in a cascade from both ends of Chiswick High Road, meeting in front of the George IV pub. The car park in front of the pub will be closed for a few hours before the event to ensure public safety. "The Mayor will officiate," Cllr Paul Lynch told ChiswickW4.com, "I can definitely promise that bit because it is me! I should emphasise it is an event for children, who have always been appreciative in past years, as have their parents." He added, "We are very very grateful for the support from Fullers, Ormrod lighting and other traders. Fullers in particular are incredibly generous. Earlier that very day they are supporting the Freedom of the Borough Party for the Fusiliers, just back from Afghanistan. The chaps deserve a warm welcome and Fullers are making sure they get it."
