She wil play Marie Curie in Alan Alda's debut play, Radiance; The Passion of Marie Curie
Mona Lisa star Cathy Tyson is to portray physicist and chemist Marie Curie in the debut play by American actor Alan Alda. Tyson, who starred with Bob Hoskins in the 1986 movie, plays the lead role in Radiance: The Passion Of Marie Curie. The play runs at the Tabard Theatre in Chiswick from February 4 to 28. Cathy Tyson in rehearsal; Pic- Richard Davenport It tells how, after the death of husband Pierre with whom she won her first Nobel Prize in 1903, Marie Curie's chance of a second was threatened by scandal following an affair with physicist Paul Langevin. Cathy Tyson who lives in north London, won a BAFTA For Best Actress in 1987 and a Golden Globe For Best Supporting artist for her role as Simone in Mona Lisa. She has also appeared in ITV series Band of Gold and Emmerdale. Internationally acclaimed actor Alan Alda is best known for his role as Hawkeye Pierce in the long-running television series M*A*S*H* ( 1972-1983) and for his appearances in The West Wing and the film The Aviator.
