Having been on tour across the UK and in New York this delightful production of ‘Posting Letters to the Moon’ will be at Chiswick’s ‘Theatre at the Tabard’ next Sunday 16 October at 3 p.m.
The war time letters, between the actress Celia Johnson (Brief Encounter) and her husband the journalist Peter Fleming, are now performed by their daughter Lucy Fleming and her husband Simon Williams.
The show has received top notch reviews on its U.K. tour and in New York. Critics hailing its touching and witty accounts of war time life.
The letters are historically fascinating as they mention Noel Coward (who wrote the short story that gave birth to “Brief Encounter”) and David Lean (Director of that classic 1945 film): as well as describing Celia Johnston’s war years.
The actress Lucy Fleming ( “Time & the Conways”, “As You Like It” , Chichester Theatre) told me that their audiences, while touring the U.K and in New York run, had revelled in the authenticity, and the intangible charm of her parents’ WW2 letters.

Lucy is joined by, her husband, Simon Williams (Justin Elliott “The Archers”, “Dr. Who”). During their tour the show has evolved to include both slides and music, making it a dynamic and immersive performance.
Just to let you know it is returning, by popular request, to The Jermyn Street Theatre in November. Let’s hope these two theatrical greats return to Chiswick very soon.
