The Friends of St Nicholas Church present a lecture on the Arts & Crafts designer
On Thursday January 26 at 7.00pm in St Nicholas Church, the Friends of St Nicholas Church present a lecture by Alan Crawford on 'May Morris: A Daughter's Story'. Alan Crawford is one of the foremost Arts & Crafts scholars in the UK. He writes, 'May Morris was a skilful embroiderer and jeweller and she lived for much of her life beside the river in Hammersmith, first with her parents at Kelmscott House on Hammersmith Mall, and then at 8 Hammersmith Terrace, alongside a whole galaxy of Arts and Crafts designers. ‘It is often said that May was overshadowed by her more famous father, William Morris, as if they were rivals in reputation. This lecture is written in a different spirit, and will explore the deep love and dependence between them.' The lecture is free to Friends of St Nicholas Church. Entrance for other guests is £7 (£5 concessions). Doors open at 6.30pm when refreshments will be available. St Nicholas Church, is on Church Street, W4 2PJ.
