January 17, 2024 A charity recital is being held at this Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Chiswick this Sunday (21 January) Soprano Maria Danishvar and pianist Irina Davydova will be performing ‘Songs By Sergei Rachmaninov’ at 2pm. The event is in aid of Christians in the Holy Land and takes place in the Parish Hall at 57 Havard Road W4 4ED. The diocesan bishop Irenei (Steenberg) of London and Western Europe will be in attendance. Admission is free with a retiring collection. The Cathedral of the Nativity of the Mother of God and the Holy Royal Martyrs is the Cathedral See of the Diocese of Great Britain and Western Europe of the Orthodox Church Outside Russia and is one of the oldest Orthodox parishes in the British Isles, having been founded in 1725. It made its home in Chiswick after the completion of the church built in the Pskov style which was consecrated in 2018. The bishop has condemned the war in Ukraine and the parish provides support for Ukrainian refugees in the UK and victims of the war in their country.
