This annual event is run from Ham House, Richmond along a 22 mile course to Island Gardens/Greenwich and has become the biggest and most prestigious event of its kind in Europe. Any traditional style, coxed passenger carrying boat may take part.
The Mayor of Hounslow was transported in fine style and great speed from start to finish.
The Great River Swim saw Iron Men and Women challenge each other to race to Chiswick Eyot and back, a distance of about 900m. Top riverside restaurant Pissarro's on the River sponsor the swim in aid of the Trust and the RNLI Chiswick Lifeboat Station.
