Guests enjoy splendid view of river whilst being serenaded by the Wind Quintet
On one of this summer’s rare hot and sunny evenings in early July, the Chiswick Committee of Macmillan Cancer Support held its annual garden party in a beautiful garden in Chiswick Mall and raised over £6,250 for the charity. Over 150 guests enjoyed a splendid view of the river whilst tasting the legendary canapés produced by the Committee, and being serenaded by the Wind Quintet, led by clarinettist John Cook. Katie Francis, Fundraising Manager for North West London, speaking on behalf of Macmillan said, “The Chiswick Committee’s renowned Garden Party is a truly enjoyably evening, full of fabulous food and entertainment. This year’s venue was spectacular and a huge thanks must go to Mrs Patricia Trumper, who donated her garden for the night. One of the services this fund raising event is helping to fund is a Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Specialist at Hammersmith Hospital. This nurse provides specialist advice and support to patients and their families and ensures seamless care is available throughout their treatment.” An earlier event, An Evening with Richard & Annie Briers, held at Latymer Upper School was supported by friends and guests and raised over £ 2,400. The evening was great fun and was greatly enjoyed by all those who attended. Recently, Sainsburys Chiswick store voted Macmillan Cancer Support its Charity of the Year. Launched in early July the store plans door collections, a coffee morning on 25 September, a day when staff will come dressed in their national costume and many other in store events.
