Local charity hosts annual summer event in exotic riverside location
On a glorious evening on 13 July, the Chiswick Committee of Macmillan Cancer Support, held its annual Garden Party in a magnificent riverside garden and raised £5,000 for the charity. Guests enjoying the perfect summer’s evening, were entertained by a saxophone quartet (led by local clarinettist John Cook), who gave their time free for Macmillan. A raffle and silent auction was a great success and raised over £1,000. Carol Woolner, Chairman of the Chiswick Committee, commenting on the evening said “"This summer the charity is changing its name to Macmillan Cancer Support, which conveys exactly what it does. The Chiswick Committee aims to publicise this renewal of the charity’s identity by organising events which people will enjoy coming to, while raising funds at the same time.” Recently, three members of the committee were given an award by Macmillan for their long standing and generous support of the charity. Moira Broom, Pat Devito and Carol Woolner all received their Awards at the Macmillan Cancer Support Ceremony back in May. FUTURE EVENTS OF THE COMMITTEE
