After 39 years together, Chiswick residents Maria and Chris decided it was time to tie the knot. Chris had been diagnosed with a brain tumour and sadly his condition was deteriorating.

The couple set the date for 7th January 2011 however, Chris was admitted to Charing Cross Hospital just before Christmas and wedding could not take place.

Not ones to admit defeat, the couple called upon their Macmillan Cancer Support team to help out. In no time at all Chris proposed (again!) was dressed for the occasion, a room was found and flowers, cake and champagne all organised by the Macmillan team.

"A special thanks should go to Alison Corbett," the now Mr and Mrs Mason's daughter Anita told ChiswickW4.com. "The wedding vows were brought forward to 30th December in Charing Cross Hospital. Registrars came specially to the hospital the wedding was arranged and my parents were married, amazing!"

Speaking about the Macmillan team, Anita said, "They are very special and their work and care for the people is outstanding. My mother and I will be forever grateful for their support for us all."
