Rehearsals are underway for Hogarth Singer’s Spring concert, to be held on Saturday 17 March at 7.30pm at the usual venue of St Michael and All Angels Church on Bath Road.

The highlight of the concert will be Joseph Haydn’s charming Missa Cellensis, and as a contrast the choir will also perform William Byrd’s Mass for Three Voices and motets by Orlando Gibbons.

The choir will be conducted by its Music Director, Rupert Gill and accompanied by Andrew Wells.

More information is available on Hogarth’s website.

Tickets are available in advance from Ticket Tailor or by phoning 07555 721662, priced £13 (£11 concessions) or on the door priced £14 (£12 concessions). Tickets for young people under 16 are free of charge.

If you want to sing with the choir next term rehearsals for their summer concert start on Monday 16 April. They'll be performing an exciting programme including works by Benjamin Britten and Will Todd on Saturday 17 July. If you would like to sing with them, rehearsals are usually held in the Arts Educational Schools, Bath Road, W4 1LY from 7.30pm on Monday evenings. They welcome new members and have a special rate of £10 per term for under-25s.

Hogarth Singers is a chamber choir in Chiswick, which evolved from a choir set up in IBM called The Meistersingers in the early 1980s. It is a registered charity with the intention of promoting a love of choral music and developing public education in the art and science of music in all its aspects by presenting public concerts and recitals.

Membership ranges between 50 – 60 people and they sing a wide range of choral music, both sacred and secular. They sing three concerts each year but also organise other activities which enable the choir to sing in a new setting and to enjoy some more sociable experiences not always involving singing.

They are a non-auditioning choir although the music director will check any new member’s voice. It is, however, very useful to have some choral experience and the ability to read music is most beneficial.
